Unknown key within HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microso ft\CurrentVersion
In XP Home Edition SP3 when I login I get the error message "C:\Windows\Bskblt.dll cannot be found". This does not happen with other profiles.I have been unable to establish anything about this online but Regedit shows the following Key: Ksevewu REG_SZ rundll32.exe "C:\Windows\Bskblt.dll", Startup. Two questions please.(a) Does anyone know anything about Ksevewu or Bskblt. In other words can I delete the key.(b) I understand KHEY_CURRENT_USER is created each time from data elsewhere but Bskblt appears only one in the Registry. So where and how can I delete it so that it is not recreated?Any help gratefully reced. 1 person needs an answerI do too

(a) The file listed in the error message isn't part of Windows XP. It was probably part of a virus or spyware infection that was partially removed. You can delete the key. Is it in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run ?(b) When a user logs in, Windows copies information about that user to the HKEY_CURRENT_USER registry hive from the user's profile data file: C:\Documents and Settings\{user name}ntuser.dat (a hidden file)When a user logs off, Windows copies the HKEY_CURRENT_USER registry hive from the registry back to the user's profile file. So deleting the registry key will delete the entry from the the profile data file.Boulder Computer Maven Microsoft Most Valuable Professional
